Guwahati: New Girls' Hostel Inaugurated At Women's ITI

GUWAHATI: Assam Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship Department (SEED) inaugurated a new girls' hostel at the ITI for women located in the Rehabari area of Guwahati on September 18.

There are about 180 students at women's ITI. The newly inaugurated girls hostel marks a milestone in providing comfortable and secure accommodation for its students.

Speaking to G Plus, a senior official of women's ITI explained the rationale behind this initiative, stating, "Recognising that many students had to seek accommodation outside the campus, we undertook the construction of this new hostel."

Previously, the institute had a hostel with a limited capacity, accommodating only about 21 students. However, the new hostel boasts a significantly larger capacity, accommodating up to 50 students comfortably.

"The construction of the new hostel commenced approximately 6-7 months ago and today it's a moment of joy", the senior ITI official told G Plus.

One noteworthy aspect of this development is the budget allocated for the project, totalling ₹1.5 lakh. The fund was provided by the Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training.

"Now at least 70 to 80 students can stay in the campus hostels", the senior official added.
