The mishap reported around 11:40 AM, left the motorcycle rider critically injured, who was immediately rushed to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).
A witness at the scene told GPlus, “This flyover has always been a hotspot for misuse, with accidents happening almost daily due to dangerous turns towards the Geetanagar extension. Today’s incident was particularly alarming; the rider was travelling at over 90 kmph on the correct lane towards Commerce Point when the car in front suddenly attempted a U-turn.”
Both individuals involved in the accident remain unidentified as of now. Although the Geetanagar police routinely fines violators during patrols, consistent traffic rule breaches continue to pose a significant risk on the flyover. Calls for permanent traffic control measures to prevent such incidents have grown louder.
A Geetanagar traffic police official confirmed, “The injured has been taken for medical treatment, and both vehicles have been towed. Identification procedures are underway.”
Further updates are expected as the investigation proceeds.
