Guwahati Man Conned and Murdered on His Way to Work

GUWAHATI: A man named Sambhu Chatterjee (34) had been murdered after he was asked to deliver goods from Sonapur to Boragaon. Sambhu Chatterjee was called by an unidentified person on the pretext of hiring his Bolero Pick up Van (AS 25 DC 7431) to carry some goods to Boragaon on 24th December, 2020. He never got back home and his phone was found switched off later.


An FIR was lodged by Sankar Das at Jalukbari Police Station on 26th December, 2020 and a case was registered accordingly (JLB PS Case No. 1623/20 u/s 120(B)/302/379 IPC).


Later that day, Sambhu Chatterjee's dead body was found on the NH 37 Highway at Jakhalabandha, Nagaon in a mutilated condition.

The investigation of the case began in the right earnest under the supervision of senior officers. As per the investigation, a team led by ACP, Jalukbari and OC Jalukbari Police Station on January 21 apprehended and arrested the main accused in the murder. 


The accused persons are: Saifuddin Asmat (37) S/O Mobarak Ali Vill- Dhakua, PS - Barpeta (Assam), Maksed Ali (25) S/O- Samsul Ali, Vill- Damapara, PS- Tarabari , Dist: Barpeta, Assam and Nasiruddin Ali (25) S/O Enush Ali, Vill- Rongpur, PS- Barpeta, Assam. During the investigation all three admitted to having committed the crime. 


Efforts are on for recovery of the stolen vehicle.
