Guwahati: KC Das Commerce College Student Elections Cancelled

The eagerly awaited student elections at KC Das Commerce College took an unexpected twist as they were abruptly cancelled.

The election results, which were initially declared on September 22, failed to lead to the traditional oath-taking ceremony of the winning candidates within the stipulated seven-day period, as per the college's norms. This delay in the ceremony led to mounting frustration among students.

Speaking to GPlus, a member of the KC Das Commerce College Students' Union expressed their concerns, stating, "The elections for the Students' Union 2023-24 have been completed, but there has been a significant delay in organising the oath-taking ceremony for the victorious candidates."

Speaking to GPlus, Hrishikesh Baruah, the principal of KC Das Commerce College, shed light on the decision to cancel the elections. He explained, "Internal issues within the candidates compelled us to cancel the election process."

Baruah further elaborated on the situation, emphasising the importance of ethics and integrity within the student body. He mentioned, "We expect our students to uphold certain ethical standards, as we are dedicated to nurturing human resources. Unfortunately, we uncovered instances of misrepresentation of facts, which led to the cancellation of the election process."

Founded in 1983, KC Das Commerce College holds a distinctive position as a Provincialised College under the Government of Assam.
