GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) on Tuesday, January 25, published the final ward delimitation order taking the city’s total municipal wards from the existing 31 to 60.
The final list has been published with modifications after hearing public claims and objections in connection with the draft list of delimited wards published on January 6, 2022.
The notification read, "In exercise of the power conferred under sub-section1(a) and (5) of Section 43 of Guwahati Municipal Corporation Act, 1969 read with Govt. of Assam, Department of Housing& Urban Affairs letter No.GDD.235/2019/Pt-V/191, dated 05.01.2022,1, Shri DevasishSharma, ACS, Commissioner, Guwahati Municipal Corporation hereby determine the extent of each 60 (sixty) wards into which the city shall be divided as per the schedule of boundary and map annexed."
The final delimitation of wards together with boundaries and map have been kept for information of the public at the offices of the GMC at Panbazar and Uzanbazar, at the DC Kamrup(M) office in Panbazar, at the Circle Office in Guwahati/Dispur, and with all Divisional Offices of GMC.
