GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has organized camps in various localities under its jurisdiction for renewal of trade licenses as well as for addressing grievances of Guwahati residents.
The camps are being held from August 16 to 19 from 10 AM to 3 PM in six different zones of the city. The first day of the camps saw a sizeable number of people come forward to renew trade licenses. The second day showed a slightly lower response in the Central Zone, as of 1PM on Tuesday, August 17.
G Plus spoke to Ramen Talukdar, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of GMC Central Zone, who has urged people to come forward for the trade license renewal process. "A lot of people are not aware of the drive and we have urged them to come forward and renew their licenses," he said.
A GMC official, however, said some people remain reluctant to participate in the drive. "There are some people who are carrying out commercial activities from residential premises, who don’t want to apply for a trade license to avoid taxes," he said.
