Guwahati: GMC Issues Notice to Meat Sellers Flouting Norms

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) Commissioner, Devajyoti Hazarika, vide a notice, keeping in view of the COVID 19 lockdown, asked all meat sellers in the city to slaughter animals at designated places after certifying ante-mortem and post-mortem examination from the GMC's authorised veterinary doctor. 

Necessary action as deemed fit will be taken against the defaulters, said the notice.

The GMC has also appealed to the citizens of Guwahati to purchase meat from approved and licensed vendors only. 

It had come to the notice of GMC that the majority of the meat vendors were violating the norms laid down by the department while slaughtering animals.
