Guwahati Gets its First Pure Veg COVID Care Centre

GUWAHATI: In a first, a pure vegetarian COVID Care Centre has opened up in Guwahati, Assam. 

On August 9, Dr. Rathindra Bhuyan, Director Health Services Govt of Assam inaugurated the centre at Hotel Rituraj.

"The vegetarian asymptomatic COVID patients found positive will now have a choice to come and stay here under the care of a team of doctors and other paramedics along with medicines, oxygen, etc provided by Health Directorate," said Dr. Bhuyan, speaking to the media.

He added that approximately 10% of all positive patients are vegetarian and that in other CCC’s people are being provided food of their choice be it rice or chapatis or veg or non-veg.

It should be mentioned that the state government will only providing health care facilities and medicines to the patients staying here, the room rent and food cost, etc would have to be borne by the patients themselves.

Basant Surana, owner of Hotel Rituraj said, "Our staff is fully committed to provide a home-like atmosphere to the patients who will be staying here."

Mahabir Jain, President of Kamrup Chamber of Commerce expressed gratitude towards the state health department headed by Himanta Biswa Sarma for the initiative.
