Guwahati: Father Of Khanapara Accident Victim Files FIR After CCTV Footage Surfaces

GUWAHATI: An FIR has been lodged following a fatal accident at Khanapara, Guwahati, in the wee hours of November 1, amid Diwali festivities. The complaint was filed by the father of Deepit Dey, one of the two young people killed in the collision, after CCTV footage of the incident emerged on Monday, November 4. The video provides crucial insights about how the accident happened,  revealing how a white vehicle taking a U-turn near the Khanapara footbridge is hit by another vehicle being driven by Deepit.

Deepit and a female passenger were killed instantly when his black Scorpio collided with the white Scorpio near the footbridge. After the CCTV footage surfaced, Deepit’s father lodged a complaint with the police against Gautam Khandelwal, the driver of the other vehicle.

Deepit’s father, talking to the media, said that he believed his son might have been at fault. “I thought it was my son’s mistake,” he explained. “However, the footage clearly shows the white Scorpio caused the accident. My son was a responsible driver; he often drove to college without any issues. Sadly, this trip turned out to be his last.”

According to him, Deepit was driving in his lane when the incident occurred and the other vehicle was entirely at fault.

The crash inflicted severe damage on both vehicles, and Deepit’s car, after veering into the footbridge railing, fell back onto the road almost completely wrecked under the impact.
