GUWAHATI: Guwahati Police intercepted a 10-wheeler truck loaded with 31 cattle on Monday, November 4. The incident took place at a police checkpoint in Katahbari near the Bharalu bridge.

The operation, overseen by the Garchuk Police Station, and under the authority of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nilotpal Saikia, led to the arrest of seven suspects involved in the smuggling attempt.
Tragically, all cattle did not survive the harsh conditions of transport, with many of their remains discovered inside the truck. A car was also seized from the site, as it was linked to the operation.
The cattle shipment was heading for Meghalaya.
Police have launched a full investigation into the incident to identify and dismantle the wider smuggling ring responsible.
