GUWAHATI: Police have arrested an e-rickshaw driver in Guwahati on charges of sexual abuse of a minor girl on Thursday, May 23.

The incident was reported from the Lokhra area of the city.
The minor's uncle had hailed the e-rickshaw near Brahmaputra Bazar, a vegetable market near Beharbari for the child to be dropped at Lokhra.
At Lokhra, the driver, who was identified as Siddique Ali, allegedly engaged in immoral acts with the 12-year-old.
However, locals caught him in the act and raised an alarm while also manhandling him. Soon after, police officials from the Basistha Police Station reached the scene. They took Siddique Ali along with them to the police station and detained him.
Talking to GPlus, a police official said, “He was taken into custody yesterday (Thursday) and will be forwarded to jail.”
Necessary legal proceedings in the case are underway
