GUWAHATI: The Cotton University in Guwahati has announced a special examination for students infected with the COVID-19 virus as they will not be able to attend the offline semester examination on the scheduled date.

Academic Registrar of Cotton University, Diganta Das stated, “More and more people are getting infected by the virus every day. Students who are not able to attend the offline exam on the scheduled date due to COVID-19, special exams will be held for them on a later date.”

After G Plus reported that Cotton University has suspended all offline classes due to the pandemic situation, several complaints poured in from students stating that the varsity is to hold an offline examination for the fifth semester.

The students have claimed that despite the rising number of COVID-19 cases among the students and staff in the University, the management has chosen to go ahead with the offline examinations for the fifth semester as scheduled without caring for their health.

The fifth-semester exams are scheduled to be held from January 21, 2022.

Diganta Das clarified to G Plus that the students need not worry since the complete COVID-19 protocol will be followed while conducting the examination.

"The number of fifth-semester students is less. Exams will be held in multiple rooms so that proper social distance and sanitation protocols are followed," he said.
