GUWAHATI: Cotton University has informed that they have no plans of demolishing any of the on-campus heritage hostel buildings.
Contrary to media reports that have been doing rounds stating that all the existing old hostel buildings of the University will be dismantled for new construction, the Vice-Chancellor of Cotton University Professor Bhabesh Chandra Goswami and Registrar Diganta Das have confirmed to G Plus that the reports are not true.
"The University does not have any such plans. Two hostels have been undergoing construction for the last two years. But there are no talks to demolish the others. We have instead preserved them as Heritage Bungalows." Diganta Das said.
Confirming the same, Prof Goswami said, "The University does not have any financial support to consider any such project. There has been no talk of reconstruction of the hostel building since over a year."
