Guwahati: Almost all of Guwahati city has been submerged in deep water after repeated showers in the past few days. Many roads in different parts of the city were under several feet of water, making vehicular traffic come to a halt.
Waterlogging and artificial floods were reported from various parts of Guwahati. Some of the locations include - Chandmari, Beltola, Downtown, Hatigaon, Kahilipara, and Rukminigaon.
The people of the above-mentioned locations have expressed their distress due to waterlogged bylanes while going to work.
“The entire Fancy Bazaar area is waterlogged. Also, there is hardly any space for parking, causing huge traffic jams in the area. I usually go to work riding a two-wheeler and was still very late for work today due to flash floods and waterlogging in the area,” an office goer told G Plus.
Another resident of the Wireless Beltola area in Guwahati said that the Basisthapur Bylane No 1 submerges underwater after just 10 minutes of continuous rainfall. “My Bylane is totally waterlogged and there are hardly any cabs available due to flooding in the Beltola area. The available ones are rejecting our bookings and this is making us late for work everyday. I cannot even take out my car as the water level is so high and it takes a lot of time for the water level to go down”.
