GUWAHATI: Guwahati-born Chef Guntas Sethi appeared as a guest judge in MasterChef India Season 7, on the episode which aired on January 12.
In the episode, the contestants were seen given a 'Mystery Box' challenge and the judges along with chef Guntas Sethi tasted their dishes.
Sethi is a Patissiere Chef trained from Le Cordon Bleu, London. She is also the European Union Food Ambassador for 'More Than Food Campaign India'.
"Growing up in Guwahati there was limited exposure to pâtisserie but during our frequent trips to Kolkata and Dehradun, I was always fascinated by their pâtisserie culture, Flurrys and Cookie Jar in Kolkata as well as Ellora’s and the numerous homemakers in Dehradun. And then through MasterChef Australia, I could understand how pâtisserie is both arts and science combined together. And that really drew me in. I wanted to explore how to mix different textures, flavours, the precisions. It’s a world to explore in its own," Sethi told THE POST INDIA in June 2020, in an interview.
The show premiered on January 2 on Sony Entertainment Television. Nazia Sultana, Nayanjyoti Saikia and Santa Sarmah from Assam have made it among the top 16 contestants.
The new season of MasterChef India is being judged by Garima Arora, Ranveer Brar and Vikas Khanna.
