Guwahati: Chatribari To Showcase Musical Instruments-Themed Durga Puja Pandal

GUWAHATI: Amidst the vibrant celebrations of Durga Puja, the Chatribari Sarbajanin Puja Devosthan near K.C. Das Commerce College is gearing up to present a unique musical spectacle.

With a budget of ₹15 lakh allocated for this year's puja pandal, the committee aims to transport visitors back in time to experience the musical instruments of yesteryears. The committee has employed various materials, including thermocol, plywood, and more, to construct the pandal.

Speaking to GPlus, a member of Chatribari Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committee stated, "Our primary objective is to introduce the younger generation to the musical instruments used in the past. This includes nostalgic relics like the bioscope and the gramophone, which have been an integral part of our cultural heritage for the last century."

To bring the theme to life, the organisers have meticulously recreated two iconic setups – Doordarshan and Akashvani – replicating them with incredible attention to detail. These replicas are expected to evoke a sense of nostalgia among older generations while offering younger visitors a glimpse into the past.

This year, the Chatribari Sarbajanin Puja Devosthan has the privilege of hosting Jatin Bora as the guest of honour. "The actor will also use this platform to promote his upcoming film," the member of Chatribari Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committee told GPlus.
