GUWAHATI: In an effort to promote sustainable energy solutions and meet the growing demand for alternative fuels, ASTC (Assam State Transport Corporation) has revealed its plan to repurpose its vacant land into a compressed natural gas (CNG) gas station.
The vacant plot located on the left side coming from Paltan Bazar, adjacent to the starting point of the Ulubari flyover, has remained unused for several years.
According to a few local shopkeepers, previously people used to park their cars on these premises but after that looking at the condition of the ground they have decided to park their cars outside the premises.
Speaking to Gunjan Das, the person who is looking after the plot, said: "One portion of the plot will be utilised as a CNG gas station and the other side of the plot will be utilised as a car service station."
Speaking to G Plus, the ASTC, MD, Rahul Das said, "The CNG project has been undertaken by the Purva Bharati Gas Company Limited. The inspection of the land has been done and currently, the station is under construction.”
