GUWAHATI: An armed robbery took place in broad daylight on the A.T. Road of Guwahati on Friday, September 20.

The robbers snatched cash and a mobile phone from Ayaz Ali near the Vishwaratna Hotel, and were carrying guns which they used to threaten the victim.
As per witnesses, the robbers attempted to also take away Ali's e-rickshaw but failed. While fleeing, they opened fire, although no injuries were reported.
Ali, who had been dropping off passengers at Guwahati Railway Station, Pan Bazar, stated that two men got into his vehicle. During the return trip, they pulled out guns and demanded cash and his mobile phone.
When nearby people tried to help, the assailants fired a warning shot before escaping.
Ali later lodged a formal complaint at the Pan Bazar police station.
Talking to GPlus, an official from the Pan Bazar police station confirmed the incident. Investigations are currently underway and further details are awaited.
