GUWAHATI: The Akshaya Patra Foundation has set up another of its centralized mega kitchens at Amingaon, Guwahati. This newest addition to the foundation's list of kitchens was inaugurated on 20th January by Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and minister of health and education, Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Also present were Suresh M, regional executive engineer of the Airports Authority of India and Chanchalapathi Dasa, vice-chairman of The Akshaya Patra Foundation.

The new kitchen is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and has the capacity to serve 50,000 meals per day.
In pursuance of its motto to counter malnutrition and support the right to education of children hailing from socio-economically challenging backgrounds, the foundation has been providing nutritious meals to children studying in government schools and government-aided schools in a Private Public Partnership (PPP) model.
It already has a functional kitchen at Amingoan, established in 2010, that has been serving mid-day meals to over 35,000 children in about 613 schools. The foundation is also known for its unique delivery services, delivering the nutritious hygienic food in insulated containers kept at specified temperature, by specially designed vans.
The Akshaya Patra Foundation and the Assam government has also announced about the ongoing construction of similar centralized kitchens at Jorhat and Majuli.
