Guwahati Airport Gears up for Resumption of Flights

GUWAHATI: With speculations over resumption of commercial flights, the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) airport is gearing up for departure and arrival of passengers mid pandemic.

“The airport is ready for passengers, even today one special flight has come; it is very much operational. Cargo flights are already operating but as special flights are concerned, the first flight landed today,” said the Airport Director, who is also the official spokesperson of LGBI Airport.

“Commercial flights will operate as per decisions taken by the government of India, but the airport is ready. All preparations are being done from social distance marking, sanitization process, temperature scanning machine, disinfection of baggages, everything is in place,” said the Aiprort Director. “All arrangements have been made and we’re just waiting for order from the government,” the official added.

Another official of the airport informed of the preparations being made by the authorities. “We have already been preparing for resumption of flights; we’re just waiting for the government’s directive or decision from the Central Government,” said Indra Mohan, PRO Airport Authority of India at the LGBI airport, Guwahati.

“Distancing measure marking at the departure area and if anybody comes without masks, we’ll provide them free of cost, if they have forgotten to wear them. We’ll also ensure contact less entry right from the entrance till the boarding gates,” Indra Mohan said, on necessary steps being taken by the city airport authorities.

“We have been told to be prepared for any likely resumption of commercial flights. Right now we cannot say from which date or what time flights will start, but we are preparing for all those norms and guidelines laid by the government and things are in place,” said Indra Mohan.
