Guwahati: 30 Cases Of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome Reported In GMCH

GUWAHATI: In a concerning development, the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital has reported a sudden surge in Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES). 

As per data provided by GMCH officials. a total of 30 cases have been identified this year. 

Earlier in 2022, as many as 75 cases were reported in the hospital. 

Acute Encephalitis Syndrome is a serious neurological condition that causes inflammation of the brain, leading to symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, confusion, and in severe cases, seizures, and unconsciousness.
