GUWAHATI: The fourth match of the Guwahati Premier Football League (GPFL) organised in Judges' Field on December 13 produced a surprise as Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) managed to hold North East United Football Club (NEUFC) to a draw. The match ended scoreless.
The Highlanders couldn't manage to get past the NRL Goalkeeper Jitumoni Das, who made a string of fine saves to secure a clean sheet.
Though NEUFC created several goal-scoring opportunities with their exceptional playmaking, the NRL defenders were resilient and stood their ground. NRL centre back Rahul was especially instrumental in keeping a clean sheet against the tournament favourites.
The Player of the Match was awarded to Jitumoni Das from NRL. His spectacular saves earned him a trophy and cash prize of ₹2100. The award was presented by former international footballer Jewel Bey.
The next match will be played between NF Railway SA and Deka Bricks Industries (DBI) at 2:45 PM on December 14 in Judges' Field, Guwahati.
