Govt on the Job to Trace and Quarantine Nizamuddin Returnees within 2 Hours: HBS

GUWAHATI: Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, at a media briefing at LGBI Airport in Guwahati on March 31, informed that the persons who had congregated at the Tablighi Jamaat at Hazrat Nizammudin in New Delhi and came back to Assam could number less than 100.

The Assam government has received a list of the names of all 299 people who were in the vicinity of Nizamuddin.

The govt is tracking them down at the moment and is hopeful of quarantining all of them within the next two hours.

Following this, the persons' swab will be collected and tested immediately for infection. It has to be mentioned that 6 people of the congregation have reached Assam till now as briefed by the minister.

Further, at the same media briefing Himanta Biswa informed that the ongoing lockdown will not be eased till 14th April. He mentioned that many media houses had speculated about the easing of the lockdown. 

However, no such step will be taken under any circumstances. Only shops selling essential commodities or companies manufacturing such items are exempted from the lockdown provided they acquire necessary permission from the Deputy Commissioners of each respective district.
