GUWAHATI: With the coronavirus outbreak being declared a pandemic by the World health Organisation, the Central Government has now declared sanitizers, surgical masks and gloves as essential commodities till June 30, 2020.
In a notification issued by the ministry of consumer affairs, food and public distribution, the government has regulated the production, quality, distribution, logistics of masks (2ply and 3 ply surgical masks, N95 masks) and hand sanitizers for COVID 19 management.
As such both these commodities - masks and hand sanitizers - have been brought under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.
