According to reports, the fee ranges between 0.5% and 1% plus GST on such transactions. However, payments made directly through UPI-linked bank accounts remain free of charge.
According to Google Pay’s Pay Bills support page, users can continue paying bills for mobile, television, electricity, water, and gas. However, when using a credit card, debit card, or RuPay card, a convenience fee is applicable. Before completing a transaction, users are informed of the exact charge, which varies based on the bill amount.
Google Pay has also stated that the convenience fee may be revised in the future, with updated charges being displayed at the time of payment.
Additionally, Google Pay has also mentioned the possibility of a platform fee for payments made via UPI, credit, debit, or RuPay cards. However, this charge is applicable only for certain bill payment categories. The platform fee, if levied, is displayed along with the convenience fee before the transaction is completed.
