BJP's Rekha Gupta Takes Oath As Delhi’s Chief Minister

 

GUWAHATI: Rekha Gupta (50), a first-time Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Shalimar Bagh, was sworn in as the fourth woman Chief Minister of Delhi on Thursday, February 20, at a grand ceremony held at Ramlila Ground.

Gupta’s swearing-in follows the BJP’s return to power in the national capital after 27 years, securing 48 seats out of 70 seats in the Delhi Legislative Assembly and ending the 10-year rule of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Gupta was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. BJP MLAs Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Raviraj Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh were also sworn in as ministers in the Delhi Government.

The event, which began at 11 am, concluded by 1 pm. Among the attendees were Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, as well as the Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of 20 states. Several other senior BJP leaders and party workers were also present.
