Gold worth Rs. 2 Crore seized at Guwahati Airport

GUWAHATI: The officials of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport along with the Customs department seized gold bars worth Rs. 2 Crore from an Air India passenger on 12th November.

The gold has been seized from one Lalthithal Liyana which was detected in a handbag at X-Bis during a routine checking by the CISF.

The total weight of the gold seized is 6.5 kilograms.

Liyana was to board the AI730 flight of Air India from Guwahati to Kolkata.

According to CISF officials, Liana planned to smuggle the gold bars from Guwahati to Kolkata. 

The investigation into the case is in progress.
