GUWAHATI: In the aftermath of the triple murder case, the Golaghat Police apprehended the accused husband’s brother and mother after the sole survivor of the victim's family in the murder disclosed details of an earlier case registered against the duo.
The arrests were made on Wednesday, as part of their investigation following Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid a visit to the grieving family members of the victims.
Ankita Ghosh, the lone survivor of the family, had previously informed reporters that she had lodged a complaint at the police station in 2022, alleging that the mother of the prime accused had attacked her by pulling her hair, while the elder brother kicked her in the stomach.
However, she expressed that the police had not taken any action then.
After Ankita made this significant statement on various media platforms, the police took action and apprehended the brother, Hizbul Rahman, who had been evading capture since the incident occurred.
Additionally, they also detained his mother, Saleha Begum, for questioning in connection with the case.
While speaking to G Plus, the Superintendent of Police, Golaghat district informed that although Ghosh stated that a case was registered earlier against the accused’s mother and the brother, they are looking through old case files to ascertain her claim which is also expected to aid into the proceedings of the investigation.
