Talking to GPlus, a GMDA official confirmed that the refurbishment work began on September 16. "The repair work is being carried out only during night hours, which is why it will take some time to complete," the official explained. "We expect the project to be finished by the end of October."

The official also mentioned that a budget of  ₹ 4 lakh has been allocated for the revamp, aimed at restoring the bridge's safety and cleanliness for the public.

He further explained, "The situation with the railings has been concerning. We found that drug addicts had cut through the railings using blades, which made the bridge unsafe for pedestrians. As part of the ongoing repair work, we are not only replacing the damaged railings but also ensuring they are more secure to prevent such incidents in the future."

He added, "In addition to replacing the damaged railings, we will also be repainting the entire footbridge."
