GMCH doctors protest against the Citizenship Bill; wear black badges to work

GUWAHATI: The doctors and staff of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) have joined in the efforts of protesters across the state to voice their disagreement against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 by wearing black badges on Thursday, January 10. 

The badge was worn during office hours to mark the protest. Doctors at the hospital unanimously said that they were totally against the Bill and that the Centre should immediately remove it.

It should be noted that during the past few days, Assam has witnessed numerous protests after the Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on January 8. The Bill has been stalled at the Rajya Sabha on January 10 following strong opposition.
