GMC files fir against former head cashier Madan Bahadur Chetri. According to an inquiry conducted by some senior GMC officials it was found that Madan had siphoned around Rs 5 crores between 2011 to 2016.
Sources said that he used to collect revenue money from various GMC branches but the money was never deposited in the bank.
Chetri retired in January 2017 but sources said that the authorities had ordered an inquiry in 2016 also but nothing happened that time and the findings are not known to anyone rather Chetri was allowed to proceed on superannuation without initiating any urgent step to recover the amount. Police investigating might put some more light on the issue and might bust a huge nexus in the department who are siphoning away the revenue money collected from the public.
