GUWAHATI: In line with the ongoing 'Swachhata Pakhawda' (Cleanliness Fortnight) and the 'Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign' (Cleanliness is Service Campaign), which will run from September 22 to October 2, as a prelude to Swacch Bharat Divas on October 2, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has issued a comprehensive plan for cleanliness-related activities.
This plan outlines various events and their respective dates and venues. The events are aimed at promoting cleanliness and sanitation across the city of Guwahati and will involve various divisions and marketplaces.
Cleaning of marketplaces will take place on September 22 and September 23 from 8 AM at Ganeshguri Market, BK Kakoti Market, Supermarket and Wholesale Fish Market. The responsible divisions are Div III, Div IV, Div V and Div VI.
Cleaning of NH 37 will take place on September 24 from 8 AM. The responsible divisions are Div I and Div VI. Cleaning of Lachit Ghat will take place on September 25 from 8 AM. The responsible division is Div IV.
Cleaning of Railway Tracks from Panbazar to Maligaon will take place on September 25 from 9 AM. The responsible divisions are Div I and Div II. Cleaning of Government Vehicle Parking Spaces (GVPs) will take place on September 26 from 8 AM. All divisions are responsible for it.
Cleaning of tourist places will take place on September 27 from 8 AM at Sukleswar Temple, Brahmaputra Heritage and Ropeway. The responsible division is Div II. Cleaning of CT/PTs in the eradication of yellow points will take place on September 28 from 8 AM. All divisions are responsible for it.
Mass collection of plastic waste will take place on September 29 at all the schools under the Akshar Foundation. The responsible institutions are CPM, SBM, and Divisional Engineers. Health Checkup Camps for Sanitation Workers will take place on September 25 from 9 AM at Fatasil Harizan Colony and Old Garage, GMC. The responsible divisions are Div VI and Div II.
