On April 22, Gambhir received two threatening emails, one in the afternoon and another in the evening, both containing the chilling message "IKillU."
In response, Gambhir promptly approached the Delhi Police and filed a formal complaint at the Rajinder Nagar Police Station. He also requested enhanced security for himself and his family from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Central Delhi.
Reports state that this is the second time Gambhir has received such threats, the first being in November 2021 during his tenure as an MP.
The Delhi Police have launched an investigation and are stepping up security measures to protect Gambhir and his family.
The threats come shortly after Gambhir publicly condemned a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 civilians were killed by gunmen targeting tourists in the Baisaran meadow.
On social media, Gambhir expressed his condolences and declared that those responsible would face consequences, stating, “Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike.”
