GUWAHATI: A Border Security Force (BSF) constable was detained by Pakistan Rangers after accidentally crossing the international border in Punjab’s Ferozepur sector, as per media reports on Thursday, April 24. The detained jawan, reportedly identified as Constable PK Singh of the 182nd battalion, was in uniform and carrying his service rifle at the time. According to reports, he had been accompanying local farmers near the border when he inadvertently crossed over while moving towards a shaded area to rest. It was then that he was apprehended by Pakistani forces.

A flag meeting between the BSF and Pakistan Rangers is currently in progress to facilitate Singh’s safe return. Officials stated that such incidents, though unfortunate, have occurred in the past and are typically resolved through established protocols between the two border forces.

The development comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, following the recent Pahalgam terror attack. India has been taking a series of strong diplomatic and strategic actions in response to what it alleges is Pakistan’s continued support for cross-border terrorism.
