Gas Agencies Stop Home Delivery, Ask Customers to Collect Cylinders from Outlets

GUWAHATI: Ahead of the lock-down which is scheduled to begin at 6 PM on March 24, the gas agencies have stopped home delivery services in Guwahati.

It is to be mentioned that major agencies in Bharalumukh, Ganeshguri, Ulubari, Hatigaon, beltola areas have asked their customers to collect the cylinders from their respective outlets.

Speaking to G Plus one of the residents of Bharalumukh said, "Just yesterday, PM Modi along with Himanta Biswa Sarma asked us to maintain social distancing and today these guys are asking us to collect cylinders from their outlets."


"See how much people have gathered here to buy cylinders. Where is the social distancing?" he added.

Meanwhile, other gas agencies have said that by March 25 they will start home delivery, however, things remain uncertain as the delivery men are currently unavailable.

G Ramesh, Chief General Manager and State Head of Indian Oil in a statement said that domestic LPG being covered under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, will continue to be made available in the market even if there is a complete lockdown announced by the governments of the seven individual north-eastern states.
