Ganja Worth ₹9.19 Lakh Seized By RPF, GRP; 4 Arrested

 

GUWAHATI: Personnel of  Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) have seized 91 kgs of ganja, worth ₹9.19 lakh, in a series of raids and during regular checking conducted at several railway stations in the Northeast, and arrested four individuals on March 27 and 28.

A press release issued by the Northeast Frontier Railways said, a joint team of RPF and GRP Agartala apprehended 2 persons and seized 39 kgs of ganja, worth ₹3.90 lakh, which was concealed in four bags at the Agartala Railway Station on March 28, while around 15.5 kgs of ganja, worth up to ₹1.55 lakhs was seized and one person was apprehended by an RPF team at the Rangiya Railway Station.

Additionally, around 37.4 kgs of ganja, worth around ₹3.74 lakh, was recovered by RPF at the Agartala and Dharmanagar railway stations on March 27, while one person was apprehended in this connection. 

Furthermore, one person was arrested on for allegedly sedating rail passengers at the Dimapur Railway Station, while around 20 nos. of suspected sedative drugs along with biscuit packets, cash, cold drink bottle and a phone were recovered from suspect.
