Ganja trafficking on the rise as fresh consignment seized at Guwahati Railway Station

GUWAHATI: A team from the Government Railway Police (GRP) on Tuesday seized 50 kgs of cannabis (ganja) from the Guwahati Railway Station and arrested two persons. Ganja trafficking is on the rise as couriers can be anyone from women to elderly.

The couriers have been identified as Chitranjan Gupta and Madhu Gupta who were carrying the consignment from Dimapur in a Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express. The police have registered an FIR and an investigation is on.

Ganja trafficking is on the rise as regular reports of ganja being confiscated from couriers is making news. The GRP has been routinely arresting people who mainly act as couriers but the kingpins remain elusive.
