GUWAHATI: To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the iconic Gandhi Mandap atop the Sarania Hill has been illuminated in Guwahati.
Earlier, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visited Gandhi Mandap and reviewed developmental works and beautification drive carried out at the site.
It is to be mentioned that under the Smart City Project Sonowal asked the officials to start a ‘Light and Sound show’ at the Gandhi Mandap in Guwahati and ensure pure drinking water and sanitation for the visitors.
This initiative has been taken under the Smart City Project which will eventually attract tourists and visitors from the state.
Gandhi Jayanti is an event celebrated in India to mark the birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi born on 2 October 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat.
