GUWAHATI: Kamrup Metro district office of the Handloom and Textile department of Assam is organising a Gamocha Mela at the Bastra Bhawan in Ambari from April 8 to 13.
Based on a statement, handmade products from five weavers extension service centres of the department will be available to the customers at the Mela. 15 cooperative weaver societies from Kamrup Metro and Kamrup districts will also take part in the mela.
The Mela will formally begin from 2 p.m. on April 8 and it will remain open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. during the period.

The statement also read that the mela is being organised to provide handmade products at a reasonable rate and the department aims to sell up to 30,000 gamochas during the period.
