Fresh Violence In Manipur Claims 9 Lives, Over 1000 Weapons Recovered

GUWAHATI: In a recent outbreak of violence in Agijang village located in Manipur's Imphal East district, nine individuals lost their lives, while ten others sustained injuries. The incident occurred on Tuesday night, escalating tensions in the region, reports stated.

 

As per reports, amidst the escalating violence, the security agencies in Manipur have successfully recovered over 1,000 weapons that had been looted by miscreants since the outbreak of violence on May 3.

Notably, an estimated total of 4,000 weapons and over five lakh ammunition were pilfered from various armouries and outposts across Manipur during this period.

As per media reports, a total of 1,040 sophisticated arms and 13,601 pieces of various ammunition that were previously looted have been successfully retrieved.

Additionally, security forces have also discovered 230 live bombs from different parts of Manipur over the past few days. Joint combing operations, involving the Army, police, and other central armed forces, are being conducted throughout Manipur to recover the remaining looted weapons.
