According to sources, the clash left several Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel injured as well, as the insurgents launched this coordinated attack on a police station in Borobekra near the Assam border.

The militants reportedly attacked the police station from two sides, as their primary target was a nearby relief camp for internally displaced people. Following the initial assault, the insurgents spread out towards the nearby Jakurador Karong settlement, about a kilometre away, where they reportedly set houses on fire too.

The Borobekra police station has been subject to multiple attacks in recent months, while tensions in Jiribam have been running high for the time being. Earlier, a woman from the Hmar tribe was reportedly killed, while a woman was also reportedly shot dead by suspected Kuki militants while working in a paddy field.

Manipur has been landlocked in communal violence for over a year between its two major communities; the Kukis and the Meiteis. With hostilities continuing to escalate every passing day, the situation remains volatile for the moment.
