Latasil police arrested Surendra Kumar Jain from his residence at Silpukhuri on Friday for allegedly duping several promises to arrange loans under various government schemes.
Jain, according to police had collected money as commission for availing loans under government schemes from his victims. A case was registered in the Latasil Police Station.
“We have recovered pass books and cheque books of several of his victims from his residence in Rajeswar Singh Palace, a housing complex here. We are still looking for more documents but from what we have recovered, we found out the victims are from different regions in the city,” an official at Latasil Police Station said.
The Pass Books belong to the Nagarik Samabay Bank, which is a co-operative bank functioning in the city through which, loans under various government schemes are sanctioned.
A case (92/18) was register against Jain after Marami Medhi, a resident of Latasil who claimed to be one of his victims.
