Foundation Stone Laid For North Eastern Cultural and Social Institute In Delhi

GUWAHATI: The Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi hosted the North-East Sammelan on February 4, 2024, attended by key Union Ministers, Members of Parliament, and State Legislators from North-Eastern states. The Union Ministers virtually inaugurated the Barak Hostel at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, and laid the foundation stone for the North Eastern Cultural and Social Institute in Dwarka.

The Dwarka institute, with a budget of ₹116.38 crore, will house diverse amenities, including an auditorium, library, art gallery, exhibition hall, research centre, sale outlets, and a guest house. The Barak Hostel, with an estimated cost of ₹28.675 Crore, is set to enhance hostel facilities for North-East students at JNU.

The event also featured an exhibition displaying handicrafts, handlooms, agricultural and horticultural products, and startups. The event was attended by G. Kishan Reddy, Kiren Rijiju, B L Verma, Pratima Bhoumik, and Rajkumar Ranjan Singh.
