Former NDFB Chief Ranjan Daimary Tests COVID+

GUWAHATI: Former National Democratic Front of Bodoland (R) chief Ranjan Daimary tested positive for COVID-19 on July 10. 

Daimary's swab samples were collected on July 4.

According to IG (Jail) Dasarath Das, Daimary is currently admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and undergoing treatment.

Earlier, on January 24, Gauhati High Court had granted interim bail to Ranjan Daimari, chairman of militant group NDFB (R), who was serving life imprisonment for the 2008 serial bomb blasts case, to facilitate him to take part in the Bodo Peace Accord 2020 talks.

The validity of Daimary’s four-week interim bail had ended on February 20 and he was back to Guwahati Central Jail as per High Court order.

Reportedly, Daimary is among the 19 inmates of the Guwahati Central Jail who were detected positive on Friday. The other 18 inmates were taken to the Jagiroad COVID hospital for treatment.
