Former Assam Governor Padmanabha Acharya Passes Away

 

GUWAHATI: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former governor of Assam, Padmanabha Acharya, breathed his last at the age of 92 in Mumbai on Friday.

Hailing from Udupi in Karnataka, Acharya passed away at his residence in Mumbai.

The veteran BJP leader had an extensive background, having worked with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

Throughout his career, Acharya also served as the governor of Nagaland, Tripura, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, in a condolence message, acknowledged Acharya's unwavering commitment to the organisation's ideology.
