GUWAHATI: Former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi was admitted in an emergency to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on 1st November at around 11 PM after he complained of breathing problems.

Dr Abhijeet Sarma, Superintendent of GMCH, informed media persons that Gogoi was restless and immediately shifted to ICU. The team of doctors treating him reported carbon dioxide retention.

“Tarun Gogoi is currently on Non-invasive ventilation (NIV), on 50 percent Fiot which was brought back to 40 percent, maintaining saturation of 96 to 98 percent. Although he is serious he is hemodynamically stable. He has pneumonia due to carbon dioxide retention in the body. But he is responding to the doctors’ command,” stated Dr Sarma.
