Forest Home Guard's Body Found After Tiger Attack In Orang National Park

GUWAHATI: On August 28, the body of a home guard was found deep within the forest of Orang National Park following a tiger attack.

Earlier that day, around 5:10 PM, two home guards were on foot patrol in the park when a Royal Bengal Tiger suddenly attacked one of them, dragging him deep into the forest.

The home guard has been identified as Dhanmoni Deka.

Forest guards quickly launched a search operation, and around 9:10 PM, they found Deka's body deep in the forest.

Speaking to GPlus, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Orang National Park said, "The two were out patrolling, and the second home guard was armed with a rifle when the tiger suddenly attacked and dragged Dhanmoni Deka inside."

"Orang is known for its tigers, and foot patrolling is very common here. We do try to take all precautionary measures," he added.
