Five Assam-bound trains to have LHB type coaches

GUWAHATI: Five Assam-bound trains will now have Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) type coaches, which have higher passenger carrying capacity and they also provide more comfort to the passengers.

The five-passenger trains which have been converted to LHB type coaches by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) include Kamakhya-Lokmanya Tilak Express, Kamakhya-Gandhidham Express, Bangalore- New Tinsukia Express, Kamakhya-Anand Vihar Express, and Kamakhya-Gaya Express.

Further, the NFR plans to convert two more trains to LHB type coaches including New Jalpaiguri-New Delhi Express and Guwahati-Anand Vihar Northeast Express.

 The NFR has announced that they will further convert six more trains to LHB type in 2019-20 and four more to LHB type in 2020-21.  

LHB coaches are developed by the German manufacturing company Linke Hofmann Busch. The coaches are relatively quieter and are designed for operating at a speed upto 160 kilometre per hour which can go up to 200 kilometre per hour.
