First Cricketer from Manipur selected for U-19 Indian Cricket Team

GUWAHATI: Rex Singh, an 18-year-old left-arm medium pacer has become the first cricketer from Manipur to be selected for the India U-19 squad to take on South Africa in a two-match ‘Test’ series, starting on February 20. 

Singh had made headlines in December last year after claiming all 10 wickets in an innings in the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy match against Arunachal Pradesh. He is expected to lead India’s new-ball attack against South Africa. 

He was also included in Manipur’s Ranji Trophy squad immediately after his performance at the Cooch Behar Trophy. He played two matches, where his abilities and talent was recognised by everyone.
