GUWAHATI: A first-of-its-kind 5-tonne compressed biogas (CBG) plant has been set up in the northeast by Redlemon Technologies Pvt. Ltd under Indian Oil Corporation Ltd in Sonapur.
This is the first time that a compressed biogas plant has been set up for industrial as well as commercial use.
The CBG awareness programme started with the Technical awareness programme on CBG sponsored by NECTAR where Pankaj Gogoi, Director, Redlemon Technologies Pvt. Ltd spoke about the opportunities of Compress Bio Gas in Northeast India and how the initiative started from Bambusa Creations in the study of ethanol and how the collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Limited led to the development of the Blue Core Energy Plant at Domora Pathar, Sonapur.
Dr Arun Kumar Sarma, Director General, NECTAR (Northeast Council for Technology and application and Reach) spoke about the different initiatives of NECTAR across Northeast India and how NECTAR has come forward with an MOU with Redlemon Technologies Pvt. Ltd in setting up CBG plants across Northeast India.
Jayanta Narayan Das, GM, Indradhanush Gas grid Limited spoke about the green energy opportunities in Northeast India.
The Bhoomi Pujan of the CBG Plant was conducted by Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma.
